Softstar apparently licensed DOMO to some random developer to make a mobile version, which they did.
It's basically your dime a dozen creature collection games with minimal economy, the difference being the stuff you collect are all DOMO characters/monsters or planned DOMO character/monsters, which is a treat if you don't know about them beforehand.
Being a Mobile game, character customization is basically nonexistent. All you get is race and sex, which means all the male humans and female shuras and whatever all look the same.
The combat system is a psudo-ATB system. I have yet to find out what actually controls the ATB but i doesn't matter as much since your default action is "attack attack attack" until your musou meter goes to full, then you perform a system-predetermined skill.
Sadly, there's no flying that I can see, which is kinda retarded if you think about it as the game's Chinese name is "Flying Adventure".
The storyline is the same quirky stuff from the real DOMO, which in turn was a remake of Softstar's first and second Xuan Yuan Sword game (which is really one game since the first one was short as hell and more or less incomplete.) Sadly, there's no peace side.
Most of the characters are chibified, and... they actually took the pains to make Garnet look possessed when she is.
White Fox got a makeover as well, and he's not even white anymore. This is actually because his name is more or less "Old Moon Sage", with "Old Moon" being the splitting of the character 胡, read as "Hu", Homophonic to "Fox".
One weird thing about this game is you literally fight everybody. There's no pure story scenes, so instead of walking into Town Hall like you did in DOMO, you instead fought your way through and gave Counselor Reese a thrashing.
Though the flip side is, you finally get to kick his ass.
And of course, while some redesigns happened, things like six-legged spiders remained the same.
And widow is as narcissitic as usual.
(Oho... So many handsome devils came... Did you come because you have heard of my immense beauty?")
And he's still depressed over nothing.
(... Go on in, I couldn't defend this gate, then my master certainly won't want me anymore QAQ.
...Wait, master already doesn't want me... Waaah! I'm not gonna live anymore! I'm going to jump into a river!)
And, being the asshole main character that you are, you promptly point out that it's a desert here.
Like most collection games. The point is to collect "allies" to fight alongside you. There's free options but the best ones require money. To start you off though the game will practically hand you two free 5* characters, which is the best available quality for now.
However, while the game hands you a sizable amount of item mall points, it has a rather annoying VIP system where they'll limit the amount of things you can buy if you don't quality for certain VIP tiers. And the only way to get VIP tiers is, of course, buying points with real money.
With VIP levels, you get increasingly greater amounts of "free" stuff as well as several features that makes gameplay easier. Such as normally when you upgrade equipment, you have to select each individual piece to upgrade, but a VIP level 3 can upgrade all the equipment of a character with one press of a button, which is actually a lot more useful than it sounds.
And of course, like most mobiles there's a public ranking to encourage people to spend, unlike DOMO's rankings however, there is a character strength rating ranking here, so you don't really have to resort to weird metrics for your cock size.
It's all been measured and ranked for you.
All in all, to call this DOMO is like telling an Ichthyologist that a dolphin is a fish. Sure it looks like a fish, but you know deep down that it's not. This is like DOMO in theme and the softstar connection only.
Is it good? That depends on whether you like mobile games or not and how deep of a pocket you have. There's certainly nothing wrong with walking around with low-tier stuff and having large amounts of downtime due to the stamina system mobiles have, so it's up to you to decide.
The theme is definitely there though, for a while you can almost pretend you're playing DOMO on a phone.
(It's actually on google play right now, I don't think there's an iphone option. You'll have to search for the chinese name. 飛天歷險).
