Job Proficiencies
Job Proficiencies apply to the following areas:
HP/MP Cost: HP/MP costs will be increased by the percentage listed.
CD: CD time will be increased by the percentage listed.
Buff/Debuff Duration: All other things equal, duration on any buffs/debuffs will be reduced by the percentage listed. Your Skill's Level and your Job's Level will also affect this.
Damage: All other things equal, damage output will be reduced by the percentage listed. Subjob Level will also affect this.
There is no way currently or in the foreseeable future to reduce any job penalties
*Note: Commoner has 20% HP/MP Cost and CD proficiency, but 10% Duration and Damage Proficiency.
Weapon Proficiencies govern only the loss of a portion of the weapon's ATK stat when the weapon is equipped by another class.
i.e. commoner has 70% proficiency with swords, so a sword with 100 ATK equipped by commoner will only give you 70 ATK rather than the full 100.
However, if said sword had 100 MATK, you will receive the full 100 MATK. The same is true for any other stat.
Each level of Mastery will raise the proficiency of the job subbing it by 5%. It cannot be used in lieu of Equip Weapon. Proficiency is capped at 100%. If you have Level 10 Mastery and sub it over to a job with 80% Proficiency, the Proficiency will be raised to 100%, not 130%.
Sub Job Level Penalty
Level Difference penalizes duration and output.
For Self-Buffs (you click, and it applies to only yourself), you may only use spells gained at 10 levels higher than your current level or less.
i.e. your Musician is level 23, you may use Inner Magic Lv. 1, which is gained at level 33, but not Inner Magic Lv. 2, which is gained at 37 on Doctor. You also may not use Spring Cleaning Lv. 6, which is gained at Level 34 on Shaman.
For every level you're lower than the level the skill is gained, there will be a 5% duration penalty.
i.e. your musician at level 23 using IM Lv. 1 will suffer a (33-23) * 5% = 50% duration penalty. It normally would last 360 seconds, now it would only last 360 - 50% = 180 seconds.
If you're higher than the level the skill is gained, there will be no level penalty or bonus. Note this penalty is applied after job proficiency penalties.
For targeted buffs/debuffs (you click, you select target, and it applies to the target), you may only use spells gained at 20 levels higher than your current level or less.
i.e. your Musician is level 25, you may use Prolong Life Lv. 10, which is gained at level 45, but not Mega Magic Boost Lv. 10, which is gained at 55 on Doctor.
For every level you're lower than the level the skill is gained less 10, there will be a 5% duration penalty.
i.e. your Musician at level 25 using Prolong Life will suffer a ((45-10)-25) * 5% = 50% duration penalty. It normally would last 690 seconds, now it would only last 600 - 50% = 300 seconds.
If you're higher than the level the skill is gained, there will be no level penalty or bonus.
For any other spell, you may only use spells gained at 20 levels higher than your current level or less. Effectiveness is halved at this point and increases by 5% until 10 levels below, where it is at 100% efficiency (other reductions notwithstanding)
